The Azure Core Linux team is tasked with working across different groups in Microsoft, as well as with distro vendors and upstream communities, to ensure a seamless, simple customer experience of Linux in Azure. As a Product Manager II in this team, you will work closely with internal engineering teams, upstream communities, and customers, to help make Azure the best cloud for running open source and Linux-based workloads. This oppportunity will alllow you to accelerate your career growth, develop your product management skills (including driving alignment between diverse internal and external stakeholders), and apply your understanding of Linux and open source communities in a large cloud environment.

  • You will drive and track success criteria for various Linux capabilities in Azure. You’ll also partner with others to identify short-term investment opportunities and collaborate with partners to garner support for proposed feature developments.
  • You will collaborate with engineering, external partners, customers and the upstream community to define requirements for new features. You’ll start to own a portion of the roadmap, identify problems and propose new areas for development.
  • You will partner with product marketing and community engagemet teams by helping build marketing, roll-out, and customer support plans. You might also promote features you have worked on by co-presenting at community and industry events, as well as authoring technical blogs and articles.
  • You will partner with others to collect performance metrics and form hypotheses to incrementally improve Linux technologies in Azure. You’ll also manage customer and partner communities, and build trust with the community as well as targeted customers.


Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of the design of software solutions using Linux, as demonstrated by a Bachelor’s Degree AND experience in product/service/project/program management or Linux-related software development

Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using various Linux distributions
  • Experience working with cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP, or other cloud platforms)
  • Experience of upstream Linux communities (e.g. Fedora, Debian, Linux kernel, and others)
  • Experience in a customer-facing role (e.g. solution architecture, pre-sales or post-sales technical support, developer advocate)
