From fish eggs to pure fish, or at least parts of them, we now turn to raw bluefin tuna sashimi. AKA raw tuna meat that you can sometimes get at places like sushi bars, but why is it so expensive? Well, that would be because of bluefin tuna, a fish that isn’t easy to catch, and when they are certain quality places like Japan will pay a premium price in order to get them and chop up their meats to sell.
Why is bluefin tuna so expensive?
The bigger the better, the bluefin tuna the more pricy the meat can get. Raw tuna is a common ingredient in sushi and sashimi, which is are Japanese dishes that are made from a combination of rice, raw fish vegetables and seaweed. Trust me when I say: “this isn’t just a delicious dish for some, it’s also very popular and that’s part of the cost of the price”.
There is always a demand for fish and across the world if you just at the crab and lobster fishing markets for proof of that people want the best. They want fish that they can both eat and enjoy and they are willing to pay an hefty price in order to get it.
Nutritional value of bluefin tuna
As for whether or not it’s healthy to eat it, usually is. Tuna is a lean protein containing omega-3 fatty acids as well as several vitamins and minerals. The catch though is that you’ll want to make sure that you get the fish from a reputable person or people because it can sometimes be infected with parasites so the caution here is to eat it at your own risk.
