Job Purpose
As Chief Accountant you are responsible for the yearly trial balance and financial statements for Belgium, ensuring compliance to both local and Group accounting and financial reporting standards
Your responsibilities will be
- Month-end submissions
Submission of the Trial Balance into Hyperion within the month end deadlines to ensure an accurate P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow. This includes submission of intercompany balances, and other relevant movements, including within reserves, fixed assets and right-of-use assets.
- Month-end processes
This includes management and reconciliation of any fixed assets and right-of-use assets, posting and management of any relevant accruals and provisions.
- Statutory Accounts
Responsible for preparing the external statutory accounts for the entity, ensuring that all deadlines are met. This includes preparation and submission of the accounts, supporting the related audit, and managing any necessary board meetings and signatures required to sign off.
- VAT
To prepare, declare and submit all necessary Indirect Tax requirements for that country, including Intrastat and VAT returns. Liaising with the Group Indirect Tax Manager or local advisors as necessary when expert advice is required.
- Tax
Preparation of the tax pack and submission to the Group Direct Tax Manager. Preparation of all local tax submissions. Managing any local tax audits.
- Balance Sheet Accounts
Overall responsibility for the completeness and reviews of the balance sheet accounts.
- Audit
Responding to all external group level audit actions in a timely and accurate manner. Primary contact for the external audit of local accounts. Responding to any internal audit points in a timely manner.
- Management of 1 accountant
Skills and education we are looking for
- Qualified accountant with experience in a similar role
- Good knowledge of accounting and financial statement reporting
- Good knowledge of VAT, corporation tax, Intrastat rules and requirements
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills
- Your native language might be Dutch or French, but knowledge of French and English is necessary
