Summary

The Data Governance Lead supports the People organization in ensuring that CW users have the right governance, management, and integrity of master data, that it remains aligned to business processes and is fit to meet business needs. This role will work with the People process and data teams to support process owners and data stewards in the creation and upkeep of data policies, standards and processes; generating a set of rules for data management and using corporate data quality tools to identify issues and prioritize actions to address deficiencies which are causing an adverse business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of data governance standards, practices, processes, and technologies to enable data lifecycle management
  • Engage and support key data stakeholders (data owners, stewards, etc.) across People area, functions, and regions
  • Capture business glossary to build Master Data Catalog and lead data curation activities
  • Facilitates cross-functional data definitions and standardization to ensure data integrity across organization.
  • Support the development of data standards, as well as methods to evaluate the adherence of those standards and policies
  • Analyzes trends and makes recommendations to support data governance and integrity
  • Enable and consult with process and data flow mapping activity ensuring records are maintained
  • Support the delivery of the Data Governance Strategy (including Data Classification, Data Security, Retention, Access Control, and monitoring) to enable the achievement of overall business ambitions and outcomes.
  • Work with colleagues across the business to regularly undertake data integrity and maturity assessment
  • Aid in the identification and mitigation of all key data risks, working effectively with and across people and technology teams
  • Help to drive a culture of Data Governance by design, effectively engaging and partnering with colleagues across the people business, enabling data innovation whilst ensuring auditability
  • Identify engaging mechanisms to communicate key Data Governance themes effectively to colleagues across the business
  • Ensures the suitability and quality of people data with the People process and corporate structures
  • Governance and maintenance of organizational metadata as it relates to People Org
  • Support change and development by problem solving, analysis and testing of outcomes using data assets and derived insights
  • Create and identify data quality rules working with data owners and data stewards. Implement a plan for delivery of fixes to resolve identified issues
  • Ensure defined workable specifications for data quality and business rules
  • Data profiling of agreed data sets using quality rules and tools
  • Provide reports and dashboards of data quality ensuring governance and plans for improvement
  • Using processes and business analysis to define data requirements for projects
  • Understanding the business requirements for data quality and the operational risks and benefit of quality changes
  • Championing the adoption and adherence to data quality and process standards
  • Supports testing activities and provides consultation on data impacts for functionality changes and feature releases
  • Ensure that People data can be translated into consumable business language driving tangible insights and outcomes
  • Provides training and support to People teams as needed to ensure understanding of data – process outcomes, events, transactions, and reports
  • Identify where business process changes would support data quality improvements and business efficiency
  • Support data governance boards, working groups and the data stewards’ network and ensure that they are receiving information required
  • Delivery of data changes within agreed timescales and SLAs
  • Coordinating data cleanse activities across project and operational deliveries
  • Supporting audit and compliance activities to ensure that they are performed to planned milestones and that issues are allocated and resolved within timescales
  • Must be able to cope with fluctuating workloads and dealing with high volumes of work at any given time; ability to work under pressure, while maintaining the required attention to detail

Qualifications

5+ years of relative experience

Experience working in a global model across time zones

Practical knowledge of data governance and management lifecycle, methodologies, techniques, tools, and best practice

Experience in supporting the development and implementation of a data governance framework

Strong analytical skills and knowledge in data governance and data quality

Good understanding of how data governance effectively supports regulatory, security, and compliance requirements

Methodical, analytical, delivery-focused, and able to run multiple work streams simultaneously

Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, or with skills from a depth of practical experience in a related field

Exposure and understanding of HCM process

Experience of querying and manipulating data from corporate data management systems e.g. Workday, PeopleSoft, JDE, ServiceNow etc.

Expert user in Microsoft Office e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Understanding of data compliance and data management methodologies

Ability to work with business subject matter experts to define business rules by which to profile data sets to check adequacy of data to fulfil specific business processes

Must be able to work both independently and as part of wider teams, planning, owning and prioritizing their own work to meet customer and stakeholder needs

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
