About the Institute

Located on Gadigal and Bidjigal land (Randwick, NSW), Black Dog Institute is the only Medical Research Institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the full lifespan, our aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. Through effective communications, we lead Australia’s population health response to suicide prevention and champion the ongoing conversation of mental health in our society.

The Role

The purpose of this role is to be the audience champion and marketing lead for the selected portfolio (ie: Health Professionals, Workplace, Suicide Prevention, Schools, or Adults and Help Seekers). It is both a strategic and operational role, responsible for developing and implementing effective marketing and communications strategies and tactics for specified products and services, as well as contributing to brand storytelling and thought leadership.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategy development and delivery

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and communications campaign plans to achieve relevant KPIs for the identified initiatives and audiences, including go-to-market strategies to launch new and developing products, based on audience insights, as well as lead generation and customer acquisition targets
  • Supporting the ideation, design, validation, testing, and production of new products before they go to market where required
  • Deliver integrated multi-channel campaigns across apps, web, eDMs, social, PR and media, advertising and print and other channels as required.

Stakeholder liaison

  • Working closely with key stakeholders and the broader Marketing & Communications team, project manage and deliver the marketing and communications plan and tactics.
  • Be the key stakeholder contact for marketing and communications matters related to the identified audience segment and initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively across the organisation to identify opportunities, leverage existing activity and create efficiencies to achieve overall business goals.
  • Work collaboratively with partner organisations to leverage their networks and channels for the identified initiatives.

Administration

  • Relevant administration and project management of the campaigns to be executed through Marketing and Communications task management system.
  • Review and report on marketing and communications activity for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that campaigns are executed to time and budget.
  • Handle relevant administration for marketing activations such as meeting minutes, processing invoices, attending marketing and communications team meetings

Skills & Experience Required

  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing or similar
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in the development and execution of integrated marketing and communications strategies with a proven track record of success
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Ability to translate and communicate complex information for consumer audiences
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to positively influence outcomes and develop and maintain productive working relationships
  • Proactive, solution-focused approach to work
  • Copywriting and email marketing experience
  • Excellent briefing and supplier management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and manage workload

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in Marketing & Communications within the mental health sector or equivalent public health sectors.
  • Experience marketing digital products, apps and online programs
